ONE North, an area of 200ha in Buona Vista, is designed to create a vibrant mix of commercial, residential and recreational environments, built on a grand vision for the future of the biomedical science, infocomm technology and digital media industries in Singapore. An environment where one can work, live and be inspired by leading scientists, researchers and technopreneurs from around the world. A small piece of Singapore with a big part to play in shaping our country’s future.
These are key pillars to drive Singapore into the next phase of economic growth. Over the past few years, we have seen the plan take shape. Latest developments include ground breaking of Biopolis III and Fusionopolis to TOP later this month with full occupancy; a couple of residential and shopping developments also launched within One North; and a new One North MRT station being built as part of the Circle Line. The frameworks are well in place.
What exciting and vibrant plans and phases does the Urban Redevelopment Authority or master planner JTC Corporation have in store for this One North masterplan? These are truly exciting times ahead for all Singaporeans as we continually embark on shaping the success and growth of One North, and it sits in a key and centralised location. I am surprised minimal emphasis is placed on One North in the 2008 draft masterplan. With 200ha available, there is huge land bank to embark on the next phase of growth, to carry forward what the 2003 masterplan kickstarted for One North.
