SingPost ties up with UOB

Source : Today - 10 Mar 2009

UNITED Overseas Bank has become the first in Singapore to tie up with Singapore Post to distribute HDB home loans, extending its mortgage services beyond its 57 branches.

In recent years, more banks have started offering their services in non-traditional spaces - such as train stations, convenience stores and petrol kiosks - to reach out to customers.

Yesterday, UOB said its HDB home loans will be, for a start, available at four SingPost outlets in Hougang, Tampines, Ang Mo Kio and Toa Payoh. By the end of the year, the partners plan to have up to 24 such post office branches “to provide heartlanders with another convenient channel when seeking an HDB housing loan”.

SingPost also has tie-ups with other companies, such as with GE and ABN Amro, to provide personal loans, and with Prudential, to distribute insurance products and unit trusts.
